Welcome back, everyone!  We hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing summer.  Our kickoff picnic will be in a new location this year!  Ritter Park, here we come!  The picnic is from 3pm to 7:30 pm at the shelter at Ritter Park, the cost is $10 per family, and we'll have chicken and barbecue with all the fixin's!  Be there! Please RSVP to Jana Scott by August 19 (jscott20@nc.rr.com)  , or call her at 361-9756 (h), 483-1716 (w) for questions.

As we begin this year, there are a few new rules and reminders of some old ones that need repeating.  Parents and scouts, please remember that our authorized places of use are the Luther Chapel, the entry classroom, kitchen/dining area, and the  four classrooms immediately adjacent to the Chapel.  No one is to be roaming, or exploring (attended or otherwise,) and any project in any classroom is to be left alone.

Also, the Boy Scouts has a "hands off" policy.  No scout can handle any other scout in any manner , or any possessions, equipment, medicine, or any belongings other than his own.   There is no room for horseplay, snooping, or "keep-away", even in fun.  Any such behavior will be stopped immediately by older scouts or adults, uniformed or not.  This policy is to ensure the safety and well-being of ALL our scouts

In addition, it is time to be reminded that when we return from a campout, it is everyone's responsibility to wait until the Troop trailer has been unloaded before going home.  Scouts have responsibility beyond their own gear, and should take it.  The troop equipment needs to be cleaned, coolers emptied and cleaned, tents dried and folded for next time, etc.   The adult leader in charge of the campout will dismiss scouts when he is satisfied that the equipment has been taken care of.

Remember, if anyone would like a hard copy of the newsletter, contact Margaret Desern (magnet511@aol.com) with a current mailing address.

The troop phone list can be found at the troop website:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/troop208 and hard copies are available from Mr. Whitcher.
